Changing Alternator in 1998 Chevy Malibu LS?

We got the belt off the alternator but now we are totally stuck. How many bolts etc are there to take off? If anyone could help us with the next step of taking the old one out and putting the new one in it would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.. Don't really have the money to take it to the shop so we're trying to do it ourselves first..Changing Alternator in 1998 Chevy Malibu LS?

if its typical there will be a pivot bolt opposite the pinch bolt which held the adjustment locked. the pivot bolt may be in one or 2 pieces. There are at least 2 wires on it, an heavy wire and a light one-disconnect battery earth before removing the wires from the alternator. If the heavy wire has a nut over it, be careful when you undo it that what's underneath doesn't undo also. disconnect wiring. remove pivot(s) remove alt via the easiest route, up or down. Install is reverse. when refitted, replace charge bulb in dash. A faulty bulb can prevent charging, so a new one is cheap insurance. Changing Alternator in 1998 Chevy Malibu LS?
there should be only 1 bolt, unless there,s a bracket.
