I need to change alternator 92 LeBaron. 1st time doing this on a Chrysler, 2nd time ever on any kind of car. I can't see what I'm doing, so will be working mostly by feel. How do I find which is tensioner %26amp; release tension on the tensioner pulley. Please add any additional tips a newbie should know for removing/installing alternator %26amp;/or serpentine in 3.0L v6 92 Base model LeBaron. How to change alternator / release serpentine tension on tensioner pulley 92 LeBaron Conv 3.0L V6?
Push the belt in between any two pulleys, while watching with a flashlight. The one that moves when you push the belt in is the tensioner (the rest are stationary). Some tensioners have a hex, a square tab or a square hole that you grab with a socket and ratchet(or breaker bar), a crescent wrench, or a 1/2 inch square drive breaker bar or ratchet handle respectively. Check to make sure there is a pulley diagram before you remove the old belt. If there isn't, draw one because it can be confusing sometimes. Insert the correct tool and pull away from the belt on the circumference of the pulley. Flip the belt off. Then reinstall the new one.How to change alternator / release serpentine tension on tensioner pulley 92 LeBaron Conv 3.0L V6?
your alternator pulley itself might be the tension pulley. take the bolts off the alternator and wiring and put new alternator in. you need a big pry bar and probably another person. hook up the belt and have someone pry on the bar and alternator pulley to put tension on the belt, then at the same time tighten the bolts on your alternator
